The other engines are a pair of 3.0-litre six-cylinder in-line engines badged xDrive30d (47.9mpg, 156g/km and 258PS) and xDrive35d (47.1mpg, 157g/km and 313PS).
The X4 will also offer the latest BMW ConnectedDrive and Online Entertainment in-car technology with access to music services such as rara or Napster.
The BMW X4 arrives at UK dealerships in July, and prices will start at £36,590 for an X4 xDrive20d SE.
