The new SEAT Ibiza supermini goes on sale on 16 July priced from £8995. That’s £300 less than the cheapest model in the outgoing range.

SEAT’s supermini costs less than the old model

There are no tax-busting diesels at launch, but the 1.2 petrol emits 139g/km of CO2. That means 15% benefit in kind this year.

The base 69bhp 1.2 petrol SEAT Ibiza is joined by an 84bhp 1.4 16v and 104bhp 1.6. SEAT Ibiza trim levels are S, SE and Sport. The range-topping 1.6 Sport costs £11,295.

Benefit in kind for a 20% tax payer ranges from £265 per month for the 1.2 12v 70 S to £422 for the 1.6 16v 105 Sport. Insurance spans groups two (1.2) to five (1.6).

The entry-level SEAT Ibiza 1.2 S features power steering, electric front windows, four airbags and six-speaker sound system with MP3-compatible CD player, but air conditioning is a £500 extra. SE and Sport have aircon and alloy wheels as standard.

The new three-door SEAT Ibiza, called Ibiza SportCoupe, makes its world debut at the British Motor Show in London 22 July.

    • SEAT has also announced that its Audi A4-based saloon will be called Exeo. It goes on sale early next year.
