  • Enlarged 2.2-litre diesel for executive Mazda 6

MAZDA is replacing its 2.0-litre diesel Mazda 6 with a new 2.2-litre engine. It will feature a range of three power trims.

The new 2.2-litre diesel – called MZR-CD – will be available as a 125PS, 163PS and 185PS engine.

Fuel economy ranges from 49.6mpg to 51.4mpg; the current 140PS 2.0-litre unit has economy of 50.4mpg.

CO2 emissions range between 147-152g/km depending on power level. The emissions of the outgoing 2.0-litre, currently in the 19% business car tax band, are 147g/km.

The new 2.2 will straddle the 18% and 19% business car tax bands, depending on power output.

There are now 11 diesel choices in the Mazda 6 range, covering hatchback, saloon and estate models.

The updated Mazda 6 models also features Rear Vehicle Monitoring System. This is standard on TS2 grade and up.

The new fully automatic active safety feature – a blind spot alert system – warns the driver of an approaching vehicle before they move across into a busy lane by mistake.
