A new new performance diesel Scirocco GT is going on sale.

It is powered by a 2.0-litre TDI 170PS engine.

The VW Scirocco TDI should combine effortless acceleration, thanks to the engine’s 258lbs ft of torque, and welcome economy with 53.3mpg. There will be the choice of a six-speed manual; or six-speed DSG auto/manual gearbox.

CO2 emissions are 139 g/km; 147g/km for the DSG. This places them in the 18% and 20% company car tax bands respectively for the 2009/10 tax year.

The new diesel Scirocco is only available in GT trim. Standard equipment includes a six-CD autochanger; rain and dusk sensor; multifunction computer;air conditioning; ABS brakes; ESP anti-skid; and six airbags.
