New engines for new Mini

The new-look Mini was shown for the first time at the Paris Motor Show.

Although the design looks strikingly familiar, every panel has been changed.

For drivers of company cars, the good news is the drop in tax bandings: Cooper is 15% (the lowest band); Cooper S is 19%.

There is a new 1.6-litre engine in the Cooper model. And a direct injection 1.6-litre engine in the Cooper S. This engine is turbocharged.

The interior features more space. There are also more options for personalisation.

The new Mini goes on sale from 18 November.

  • Mini Cooper: 120bhp, 9.1secs (0-62mph); 48.7mpg
  • Mini Cooper S: 175bhp, 7.1secs (0-62mph); 40.9mpg
  • Mini Cooper company car tax: 139 g/km, 15% (was 20%)
  • Mini Cooper S company car tax: 164g/km, 19% (was 28%)
