First up, on the petrol side, Ford’s 1.0-litre three cylinder EcoBoost engine turns up, producing 125 PS and CO2 emissions of 119g/km (that’s a company car tax band of 18% in the 2015/16 tax year). There’s also a choice of more powerful 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre EcoBoosts delivering 160 (1.6) and 203 or 240 PS (2.0).
Company car tax starts from 16%
Diesels include a 1.6-litre diesel ECOnetic engine with anticipated CO2 emissions of 94 g/km (16% benefit in kind company car tax band 2015/16), and 2.0-litre power units providing 150, 180 and 210 PS. The 2.0-litre diesels have a revised engine block, and new cylinder-head and fuel injection designs, and a lean NOX trap exhaust after-treatment system (which makes exhaust emissions cleaner).
Finally on the drivetrain front, there will be a hybrid Mondeo for the first time, which will deliver 99 g/km of CO2 (14% company car tax band) from a two-litre petrol engine paired with two electric motors – one driving the wheels and another supplying regenerative charging.
