The Ford S-Max has been voted European Car of the Year 2007.
The sporty seven-seater was launched last June. Prices range from £16,995 to £21,995.
Ford’s Transit also won the International Van of the Year award recently.
The Car of the Year is an international award. It is judged by a panel of motoring journalists from 22 European countries. The panel includes The Independent’s John Simister, also a road test contributor to Business Car Manager.
Commenting on the award, Ray Hutton, the President of the Car of the Year jury said: “This was a very close contest with all eight of the finalists deserving a place on the shortlist. It is clear from the voting that the jury is impressed by the concept of the Ford S-Max: a spacious and versatile car that drives like a sports saloon.”
The other Car of the Year finalists were:
- Citroën C4 Picasso
- Fiat Grande Punto
- Honda Civic
- Vauxhall Corsa
- Peugeot 207
- Skoda Roomster
- Volvo C30
