This is the production-ready version of the Honda Civic Type R. It goes on sale in March next year. A prototype version was shown at London’s motor show recently.

The new model promises the same high-revving engine as the old Type R. But power is now available across a wider rev range.

Styling is now more muscular. There’s a deep front spoiler, and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Like all Civics, the Type R will be built in Swindon.

Key points of the new Type R:

    • 210PS 2.0-litre engine – with more usable power
    • 0-62mph in 6.6 seconds
    • 3dr body shell
    • GT version available with added equipment
    • On sale: March 2007
