MERCEDES will launch its E-Class Estate model in January 2010.

The new E-Class Estate promises the largest load volume in the premium sector. In addition it will have the ability to carry seven people thanks to ‘Easy-Pack’ quick fold rear seats. There will also be an automatic tailgate lift. Load capacity will be up to 1950 litres.

Standard on the new E-Class Estate will be self-levelling rear suspension. The new model will be the fifth generation E-Class Estate; the first model was launched in 1977.

The E-Class Estate will also feature many of the safety features introduced on the Mercedes E-Class saloon, as well as nine airbags. Standard safety equipment includes ‘Attention Assist’ drowsiness detection.

The latest Mercedes E-Class Estate features more fuel-efficient engines, too. The diesel units return nearly 50mpg, while 150g/km CO2 emissions provides a company car tax banding of 22% for the 2010/11 tax year. It also places the E-Class in the 20% writing down allowance category for capital allowances.

Prices for the new Mercedes E-Class Estate are expected at the beginning of November.
