New MINI Convertible lets you fly the flag and get a tan too!

Let the sun shine in with the bigger MINI Convertible

YOU can quite literally fly-the-flag with the new MINI Convertible which boasts a MINI Yours Union Jack fabric electric drop-top!

Brand new features include a fully electric roof that is quieter and smoother than the previous model, a fully integrated rollover protection system and more rear space than ever before.

Drop-top highlights

  • Three-car line-up at launch: MINI Cooper Convertible, MINI Cooper D Convertible, MINI Cooper S Convertible;
  • On sale March 2016, priced from £18,475 OTR.

It has grown too with the Cooper Convertible and Cooper D Convertible now 3,821mm long and the Cooper S Convertible even bigger at 3,850mm long. All models are 1,727mm wide, 1,415mm high and have a wheelbase of 2,495mm – all bigger than the outgoing models.

The extra space means day-to-day practicality has also improved. Smart design and interior packaging means luggage volume has expanded by around 25% to 215 litres with the roof closed and 160 litres with it folded down.

Other practicality features include front and rear there are cupholders and storage spaces for small items and drinks. Bottles of up to 1.5 litres in volume fit in the two door pockets.

A storage package is available as an option, consisting of storage nets for the luggage compartment and passenger footwell. A 12-volt socket in the luggage compartment is also included.

Petrol engine choices for the Cooper Convertible are a 1.5-litre three-cylinder while the Cooper S Convertible gets a 2.0-litre four-cylinder, respectively both featuring turbochargers, direct fuel injection with centrally positioned injectors, variable camshaft control on the intake and exhaust side (double VANOS) and fully variable Valvetronic valve control.

On the 1.5-litre diesel three-cylinder engine in the Cooper D Convertible, there is turbocharging with variable intake geometry and common rail direct injection.

For the benefit in kind (BIK) tax conscious the Cooper claims 54.5mpg and CO2 emissions of 114g/km, the Cooper D 70.6mpg and 100g/km and the Cooper S 46.3mpg and 139g/km.

The S leads the bunch on pace with a 0-62mph in 7.2secs and a top speed of 143mph to really get the flag flapping!

Standard equipment across the range includes MINI Visual Boost Radio with a 6.5-inch screen, MINI Connected, Bluetooth connectivity with USB audio, Rear Parking Distance Control and a Reversing Camera.

Sales in the UK begin March 2016.
