Mobile servicing: saves downtime, says SEV

Downtime can be reduced by 75%

REDUCING the time your van is not working can only mean one thing – the chance to earn more income.

So a mobile maintenance service, which claims to reduce vehicle downtime by 75%, can only be good news.

Launched by fleet maintenance specialists, SEV Group, there’s a national network of 130 mobile service engineers which, following an 18 month test programme, is now being rolled out nationwide.

Jon Pinnington, head of sales for SEV Group, said: “Customer feedback is proving that our mobile service reduces vehicle downtime by up to 75%.

“Light commercial vehicles only earn money when they are on the road, so our service can provide fleet operators with another competitive edge.”

SEV says the key benefits of using mobile service engineers are:

  • Reduction in fuel spend; SEV engineers come to the vehicle
  • Guaranteed appointment times, so working days can be planned around the appointment
  • Increased vehicle and driver productivity; the vehicle is not left at a dealer all day for a two hour service/repair

All 130 of SEV’s mobile service engineers carry strategic levels of spare parts inventory, to maximise first time fix rates. The highly trained engineers can also service and repair ancillary vehicle equipment such as tail lifts.

Although Mr Pinnington said the service was primarily aimed at van fleet operators with 25 to 250 vans, it would also service business van fleets of one to 10 vehicles.

Mr Pinnington added: “Utilising mobile service engineers delivers a fast and efficient service and repair operation that minimises the disruption to drivers and vehicles.”
