Reborn: Renault Clio is heavily revised for its latest generation coming this autumn

A new generation Renault Clio goes on UK sale in late autumn.

Sold only as a five door, it retains the current model’s platform but is lower, longer, wider and lighter and incorporates a host of technical advancements over the current series, which is Renault’s biggest seller.

It will be sold with a 1.0 turbo petrol engine and  1.5 diesel with more engines and trim levels added fairly swiftly after the first models are in showrooms.

There are no plans for a three door but a sort of mini estate will be sold in some markets, but not the UK.

Prices are likely to start about £10,500.
