TOTAL Accident Management has partnered with Omnia – after two years’ of searching for a dynamic telematics partner – to support its clients’ 200,000 drivers.

Total see telematics as a key factor in helping customers manage issues including reducing vehicle off-road times, driver and risk management, incident frequencies, vehicle costs, duty of care, and the defence of third party and warranty claims.

Omnia will use their experience spending time with customers so that they can identify the right system for them.

Amanda Mullans, Total Accident Management’s Operations Director, said; “The telematics market is saturated with providers, many of which just focus on shifting black boxes.

“I personally went to see many companies and it took just under two years before I found Omnia. We were impressed with their consultancy approach to matching their telematics solutions to our bespoke client requirements.

“We have talked to customers about how telematics can help and support their fleet and for many, along with safety and security were key issues, ease of fitment, and not being deluged with data feeds they don’t have the time or expertise to do anything with.”

Omnia offers a selection of plug and play devices which can be quickly and cost effectively transferred from vehicle to vehicle. Installation is free of charge in most instances and fleets do not need to own or retain the hardware.

Technology encompasses a 3-axis accelerometer with severity settings and user-defined triggers. Units are self-calibrating and are able to provide alerts on G-force readings in multiple directions.

Total manages the data on behalf of their customer and responds to; any data from legacy systems can also be incorporated into the systems and used to support any other driver monitoring strategies that may be required.

Omnia’s UK Managing Director, J-P Taylor, said;

“We work with many blue chips fleets all over the world and have found our bespoke approach is still very rare in the telematics market.

“Total was very specific about what it wanted from a partner and how it wanted to support its customers. The result is an exciting offering which we believe is unique in the UK accident management sector.”
