THE Institute of Car Fleet Management (ICFM) has appointed Nigel Trotman to its board.

Chairman of the ICFM, Paul Hollick, commented: “I am delighted to welcome Nigel Trotman as the latest industry stalwart to join our impressive 11-strong board.

His election strengthens the ICFM board still further and Nigel’s widespread experience will undoubtedly assist us in broadening our appeal to potential members seeking to develop their own careers and build their professional skills in vehicle fleet management.”

Originally a librarian, Nigel entered the world of fleet in 1993 after spending a number of years as a facilities manager.

He successfully operated and developed the Whitbread fleet over a 15-year period, making it one of the first to embrace an environmental approach and winning widespread industry recognition including two Fleet News Awards and a Fleet Hero Award from the Energy Saving Trust.

In 2008, Nigel joined Lloyds TSB Autolease as a consultant, with a role that included managing the Lloyds Bank fleet of over 8,000 vehicles at a time when it was being combined with the HBOS fleet.

Success here led to Nigel’s appointment as strategic fleet consultant at Alphabet, where he developed new customer benchmarking tools and was closely involved in the evolution and delivery of leading edge products such as AlphaCity and AlphaElectric.

He retired from Alphabet earlier this year but remains active in the industry, writing for the fleet press and as regional secretary of ACFO Midlands.

In 2013, Nigel was inducted into the Fleet News Hall of Fame.
