WITH 150,000 mis-fuelling incidents each year in the UK, small businesses have been given a new option to protect against employees costly mistakes.
And those mistakes of pumping petrol into a diesel engine can mount up as high a £5,000 a pop when all bills are tallied up.
Now there’s a simple £20-a-vehicle annual insurance policy from mis-fuelling repair experts Auto Fuel Fix.
But why should a business car manager take out these policies when aftermarket mis-fuelling devices can be bought for under £40 each?
We went to the launch of the new policy in London’s fashionable Chelsea to find out.
There Auto Fuel Fix MD Bruce Compton spelled out the advantages of using the insurance policy saying: “These devices are good but they are not fool-proof so mis-fuelling can still occur at enormous cost to the small business involved.
