Peugeot readies pay as you go plan

FANCY a cabriolet for the weekend? An MPV, perhaps? Maybe a van to do some house moving or even a motor scooter or a bicycle?

Then pop down to your local Peugeot dealer with your top-up card and away you go.

It’s all part of the Mu by Peugeot, a unique mobility service from the French carmaker and coming to a UK dealer near you towards the end of the year.

Jon Goodman, managing director of Peugeot UK explained that the service is accessed via a pre-paid card that can be topped up on the internet.

It will be available to everyone, not just Peugeot customers. Goodman said: “It’s a revolutionary service and we are the only company to offer it. It means existing customers can borrow a different mode of transport for a day or two plus it gives us access to potential new customers who want to try one of our vehicles.”

Mu by Peugeot is currently being trialled in France and Goodman plans to introduce the scheme into the UK before the end of the year.

He added: “We are currently monitoring the French operation and we will out together pricing details later this year.

Cardholders will be able to rent four and two-wheelers as well as accessories such as satellite navigation or a roof box.

The card is topped up by purchasing credits on line via an internet site or by earning credits by purchasing services from partner providers.
