The Rolls-Royce Phantom was first registered in 2005, costing £275,000 when new.

It had covered just 5000 miles when it went to BCA’s Top Car Sale in Nottingham.

Bidding on the Rolls-Royce started at £140,000 and quickly rose – initially in £5000 increments – as bidders competed for the car both in the auction hall and over the internet via BCA’s LiveOnline service.

The Phantom eventually set a record – £208,000 – for the highest sold price for a modern car ever achieved by BCA.

The previous figure of £192,000 – also for a Phantom and also at BCA Nottingham – was recorded in 2005.

Paul Dunn, BCA National Account Manager said: “The Top Car Sale at Nottingham attracts huge crowds of buyers and provides an ideal platform to sell high value prestige and performance vehicles.”

BCA sells Rolls-Royce for record amount: £208,000
