Shift in demand for ULEVs
- Registrations of plug-in cars increased four-fold in 2014
- Registered plug-in cars in 2013 = 3,586
- Registered plug-in cars in 2014 = 14,498
- The BVRLA said it expected this to continue as ULEVs offered increased efficiency, reduced running costs, and lower company car tax rates.
THERE was a massive upward demand for ultra-low emission vehicles (ULEVs) last year – see table.
Both SMEs running company cars and corporates running larger fleets have been seeking lower running costs, which has increased the demand for more efficient cars.
According to the BVRLA, the trade body expects to see average CO2 emissions for cars on a business car lease fall below 120g/km of CO2 for the first time in 2015.
The BVRLA also predicted a continued move away from diesel cars into smaller-engined petrol or hybrid vehicles.
