Porsche Cayenne 3.0 V6 Tiptronic S Diesel

What is it?

ALL-NEW Porsche Cayenne with vastly improved styling, greater passenger space, and high quality interior finish. The 3.0 V6 Diesel is the most fuel-efficient in the new Cayenne range, priced at £44,178.

What’s hot?

  • Unobtrusive fuel-saving auto stop/start system works well
  • 550Nm of torque means diesel has bags of low-down go
  • It’s also refined and quiet on the motorway
  • Weight loss reduction (by 184kg) helps 38.2mpg economy
  • Rear seats can slide to increase passenger or boot space
  • More aerodynamic frontal styling visually reduces bulk of Cayenne
  • Interior so much better crafted than Cayenne Mk1…
  • …there’s quality plastics, chrome surrounds
  • Smooth eight-speed auto delivers seamless changes
  • Company car tax drops four bands compared to Cayenne Mk1
  • Commanding driving view and 4×4 ability

What’s not?

  • On standard steel suspension the car leans and rolls
  • And there’s an underlying suspension patter to upset interior serenity
  • There’s a lack of interior oddment storage, too
  • Budget for crucial extras such as communication system (£2092)
  • Powered tailgate is also a £436 extra
  • Tax still high at 31% for 2010/11 and 10% writing down allowance

Business Car Manager Road Test Rating

The new Porsche Cayenne diesel is such an improved proposition over its predecessor. It’s better to drive, better appointed, better on company car tax, better on running costs and better-looking. It’s once more a serious business car for successful small business owners.
