Volvo’s new automatic Powershift transmission will be available on 2.0-litre diesel versions of the Volvo C30 coupe, Volvo S40 saloon and Volvo V50 estate.
The Powershift auto will cost £1250.

It is optimised for powerful diesel engines and provides improved fuel consumption and lower CO2 emissions.
This new six-speed unit features twin wet clutches to provide the gear changing comfort of a fully-automatic transmission with the performance of a manual gearbox.
The two clutches operate alternately (one for the odd ratios, one for the even ratios) with one engaging while the other disengages, like a slip clutch.
The result is a continuous flow of power without any disruption in power delivery or any torque loss.
