Spot the difference: here’s the facelifted Volkswagen Scirocco R – the revised Scirocco prices for the whole range have just been announced, starting at £20,455

VOLKSWAGEN has announced the prices for its revised Scirocco range. The new line-up starts at £20,455 for the 1.4-litre TSI 125PS and rises to £33,795 for a top-of the-range 2.0-litre TSI 280 PS Scirocco R.

The company is promising efficiency gains of up to 19 per cent.

Among the changes to the updated car are (optional) bi-xenon headlights paired with LED running lights and tail lights, as well as revised bumpers.

The rear VW badge now doubles up as the tailgate release handle as it already does on several other Volkswagen models.

All six engines – four petrol and two diesel – in the new line-up are Euro 6 compliant, and all Sciroccos apart from the sporty R model now feature BlueMotion Technology modifications, which include stop/start and brake energy recuperation systems.

The low-CO2 choice for tax-conscious company car drivers is the 2.0-litre TDI, with 150 PS and a 6-speed manual gearbox, which returns 109g/km and a combined 67.3 mpg. Sciroccos fitted with this engine start at £23,175.

There are four main trim levels: Scirocco, GT, R-Line and R. The entry-level Scirocco has a touch-screen infotainment system and a DAB digital radio with a CD changer, an SD card reader and Bluetooth.

There’s also air-con, automatic headlights and wipers and seventeen-inch alloy wheels.

The Scirocco GT model also gets sat nav, dual-zone climate control,eighteen-inch alloys, parking sensors, and Alcantara upholstery.

The Scirocco R-Line gets its own bumpers and side skirts, nineteen-inch alloys and special R-Line interior trim detailing.

The range-topping Scirocco R has a styling kit, chrome-look door mirror caps, bi-xenon headlights, and lowered suspension with DCC dynamic chassis control.

The updated Scirocco arrives in the UK in October – although order books are open now.
