THERE is updated styling and improved company car tax bands for the Mazda 6 range of hatchbacks and estate models – an interesting alternative to business cars like the Ford Mondeo.

The more business-friendly Mazda 6 now features new-look front and rear styling, chassis, steering and suspension upgrades to improve on-road performance and ride.

There are 19 different models in the range, all now feature enhanced specification with equipment levels S, TS, TS2 and Sport. There are ‘smart’ turn indicators and ESS Emergency Stop Signal for all models; front and rear parking sensors and Hill Hold Assist (TS2 upwards); and AFS active Bi-Xenon front lights (Sport).

However, business car managers and company car drivers will be pleased to hear that the engine range has been made more powerful, while simultaneously reducing CO2 emissions for improved benefit-in-kind tax bands.

For example, the 2.0-litre petrol engine’s power rises from 147ps to 155ps with emissions for the hatchback reduced to just 159g/km, ensuring the car qualifies for full tax allowances on contract hire hates and a 20% company car tax banding.

The 2.2-litre diesel engine has its power increased from 125ps to 129ps, but its CO2 emissions in the hatchback are reduced from 147g/km to 138g/km putting this model in the 19% company car tax bracket.

“With CO2 emissions reduced by between 3.1 and 6.1%, and cuts of up to 10g/km on a model-for-model basis, the upgraded Mazda 6 delivers benefit-in-kind tax savings for company car drivers and a range of financial savings on other vehicle-related taxes for companies – such as Class 1A National Insurance contributions paid on benefits-in-kind, Vehicle Excise Duty and capital allowances,” commented Peter Allibon, fleet and remarketing director, Mazda.

The upgraded Mazda 6 is priced from £16,995 to £23,445 on the road.
