JUST days after celebrating the launch of the new Vauxhall Astra at Ellesmere Port – home of the Astra for over 36 years – with a choreographed Union Jack image of 128 models, Tim Tozer has turned his back on the Brit-built car and Vauxhall’s Luton HQ to pursue his career elsewhere.
After just over a year in the post – having taken over from Duncan Aldred – Tozer will be replaced at the helm by Rory Harvey.
We look forward to working with Rory on the implementation of our model offensive and on building an even stronger Vauxhall brand – Peter Kuespert, vice president sales & aftersales and Opel Group board member
Rory, who has been appointed as chairman and managing director of Vauxhall Motors and ceo Opel Ireland, is no stranger to Vauxhall. Rory (47) joined the company in 1989, and has wide experience within owner GM’s European operations, working in several areas of sales and aftersales.
Rory’s most recent appointment was executive director sales, Opel Europe, based at the Opel headquarters in Ruesselsheim, Germany.
Rory Harvey will report to Peter Kuespert, vice president sales & aftersales and Opel Group board member.
Peter said on Rory’s appointment: “Rory has a profound knowledge of the British car market, a wealth of experience within Vauxhall and Opel and excellent management qualities.
“We look forward to working with Rory on the implementation of our model offensive and on building an even stronger Vauxhall brand. At the same time, I would like to thank Tim for the great commitment he showed towards our brand. We are grateful for his hard work and wish him all the best for the future.”
The new Vauxhall Astra is the seventh generation model in the line and the 11th major model-line to be built at Ellesmere Port. The new estate version was publicly launched at the Frankfurt Show.
