SEAT is currently fielding its strongest range ever – that’s thanks mainly to the arrival of its new mid-range Toledo and Leon models, which have rather over-shadowed the established SEAT Altea MPV.
Now SEAT is looking to maintain interest in the Altea with new Copa special editions that provide extra equipment worth between £1,100 and £1,500, without any increase in price over the standard S and SE models on which they are based.
The SEAT Altea S Copa gets 16-inch alloys, steering wheel-mounted controls, two extra stereo speakers, dual-zone climate control, front fog lamps with cornering function and passenger seat height adjustment. Business users who spend a lot of time on the road will particularly appreciate the S Copa’s Bluetooth hands-free phone connection and cruise control.
The SE Copa also gets the SEAT Media System, which includes sat nav, an SD card reader for music playback, a DAB radio and Bluetooth hands-free phone operation and audio streaming, which are all controlled via a five-inch colour touch screen. Other features include rear parking sensors, automatic wipers and lights, and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror.
Both the Altea and the stretched Altea XL are available with either of the Copa packages, which can be mixed with three engines in a simplified range – a 1.2-litre petrol TSI. and 1.6 and 2.0 TDI diesels. The business-friendly eco-oriented 1.6 TDI 105 PS Ecomotive returns 62.8 mpg and emits 119 g/km of CO2, putting it into the 17 per cent tax band.
SEAT last offered Copa special edition models to boost sales of the last-generation Leon towards the end of its life.
