Verdict: SEAT creates a new hot hatch champ which can also double as an effective, entertaining business car
Business Car Manager Verdict:
Across several versions, the SEAT Leon has already earned its spurs at BCM as a solid, well honed business car choice. So what of this 280 ps Leon Cupra, where does that fit it?
Answer: right at the top, as a car that builds on everything the regular Leon has to offer, adding speed, zest, power, sporting looks and an entertainingly agile chassis. On the road, it’s a refined and user-friendly all-rounder, too. Yes, SEAT has genuinely raised the bar.
That said, the 265 ps edition of the Cupra is virtually the same car for a keener price (but 3dr only) and in the inevitable comparison with the Golf GTI (the two are related under the skin), a sober reading of the running costs/BIK numbers would seem to give the nod to the GTI. And that might go for residuals, too.
But SEAT is onto something with this new gen Leon Cupra, a sports hatch with its own talent, style and character, that sets you apart from the crowd.
