THE ŠKODA Fabia drove off with the What Car? Car of the Year Award on Wednesday night.

Presented at an awards ceremony at Grosevenor House, London, it’s 15 years since the ŠKODA Fabia last won the overall award.

The winning model was the ŠKODA Fabia 1.2 TSI 90 SE, the What Car? judging panel praising the punchy turbocharged 1.2-litre petrol engine which also manages to deliver 60.1mpg  and CO2 emissions of 107g/km – good for a company car tax band of 14%.

How does the ŠKODA Fabia What Car? winner measure up on company car tax?

  • P11D value £13,335
  • Company car tax band 14%
  • Benefit in kind £1,867
  • Tax payable at 20% £373
  • Tax payable at 40% £747

Editor Jim Holder said of the ŠKODA Fabia What Car? winner:

“The ŠKODA Fabia is a fully deserved winner – not just because of the fact it is a well-equipped and practical small car, but also because of the big name rivals it has disposed of in the process.

“We’ve driven and evaluated all of its rivals and, whichever way you cut it, the Fabia is the most rounded small car on sale in the UK today.”

The ŠKODA Fabia also won the Small Car category while the ŠKODA Octavia 1.2 TSI 105 SE won Best Family Car.
