ŠKODA has announced prices and specifications for the forthcoming third-generationŠKODA Fabia estate. The range starts at £12,460 and all versions of the new car will get digital DAB radios and fuel-saving stop/start technology as standard.
Three trim levels for theŠKODA Fabia will be offered – S, SE and SE-L.
As well as the standard DAB radio and stop/start, the S has six airbags as well. SE models (from 13,905) add air con, alloys, USB and SD card connections, as well as a leather steering wheel and a Maxi-DOT trip computer. Range-topping Elegance models (from £14,755) add larger alloys, climate control, cruise control and a keyless entry system.
The newŠKODA Fabia estate is based on the new Volkswagen MQB platform, which produces a 65kg weight saving.
Combined with revised EU 6-compliant engines this makes the newŠKODA Fabia up to seventeen per cent more efficient than before.
Seven of the seventeen engine/trim combinations available in theŠKODA Fabia’s starting line-up are expected to qualify for zero-rate road tax. The boot capacity, at 530 litres, is claimed to be the best in class.
Order books opened in September, and the newŠKODA Fabia estate arrives in the UK in March 2015. The 1.2 TSI 90 petrol is expected to be the most popular engine choice.
