Tritop points

  • New fortwo cabrio has unique “tritop” roof;
  • Up to 90hp from three-cylinder engines;
  • 99g/km of CO2 and sprint of as little as 10.8secs;
  • Reaches UK showrooms February 2016.

CUTE eco city cars now come topless with the new smart fortwo cabrio to be premiered at the International Frankfurt Motor Show next month.

Smart claims it’s really three cars in one – at the touch of a button the new smart cabrio is transformed from a closed two-seater into a car with a large sliding canvas sunroof, or a fully fledged cabriolet with the soft top completely open in just 12 seconds.

This flexibility offered by the “tritop” folding soft top and the removable roof bars is a unique in its class.

Advanced assistance systems which were previously the reserve of higher classes of vehicle include the latest-generation ESP with Crosswind Assist and hill start assist and optional forward collision warning and Lane Keeping Assist.

It will initially be available with two three-cylinder engines rated at 71hp and 90hp producing 0-62mph sprints of 14.9secs and 10.8secs respectively while both boast CO2 emissions of 99g/km.
Both engines can be combined with the five-speed manual transmission or the fully automatic twinamic dual clutch transmission.

Customers can choose from a large range of safety and comfort features – including the new features added in the latest facelift such as smartphone integration with MirrorLink® or the Urban Style package with black wheel arch linings and lowering kit.

The new smart cabrio will be available for ordering from mid-November and the first models will reach dealers in February 2016.
