Fleet managers can now have their drivers under their thumbs, and at their fingertips.

Fleet safety information specialist GreenRoad has developed a new smartphone app for managers which tells the company how efficiently and safely a vehicle is being used.

Its Driver Improvement Loop helps fleets achieve significant cost savings by immediately changing driver behaviour. Proven across 70,000 drivers worldwide, in all vehicle types and industries, GreenRoad reduces fuel consumption by up to 10% and a typical customer sees a 50% reduction on collision costs.  With these benefits alongside reduced wear-and-tear and reduced insurance premiums, customers realise positive ROI within 60-90 days.

This week, GreenRoad announced availability of the GreenRoad Central mobile app for managers, a full-featured smartphone app making fleet driver performance and safety information available anytime, anywhere for fleet operations and safety managers.

The app serves as a mobile companion to the online GreenRoad Central dashboard that provides driver performance and safety management data and reports.  The app runs on Apple iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch) and Android mobile and tablet devices and is available now to download from app stores.

The GreenRoad Central mobile app for managers enables fleet and safety managers to have full fleet visibility, at any time, away from the office, at home, or in the field, via smartphone. The app is a complement to the previously announced GreenRoad Central mobile app for drivers which has been downloaded thousands of times in the last several weeks.

The mobile app for managers features:

  • Real-time fleet location, including street address detail. Fleet managers can see where each driver is, at any time, by address
  • Safety Score dashboard for all fleet drivers.  GreenRoad Central driver data is centred on the Safety Score, a unique safety rating compiled from actual real-time driving events. The mobile app for managers gives quick access to driver Safety Scores with views filtered by highest-and-lowest ranking drivers, or the ability to zoom in to see specific, individual driver detail
  • Real-time access to each individual driver’s mobile dashboard. This view gives managers all the information they need to track and understand an individual driver’s current safety profile.

“The tremendous response to our driver mobile app has made us even more excited about delivering this mobile app for fleet managers. It’s just a fact of business that operations managers are no longer chained to their desks; they need the power of their desktop dashboards and data at their fingertips, delivered on their smartphones,” said Karen White, senior vice president of customer solutions for GreenRoad.

“Making this app available is another step for GreenRoad in fulfilling the vision of the Connected Fleet. We feel strongly that all fleets, large and small, need the convenience and power of mobile technology, combined with the delivery of real-time fleet driver performance data, packaged into easy-to-read and access reports and dashboards,” continued White.

Most company car policy documents require a user to maintain set standards and business car law  requires that a vehicle owner has to be able to give police details of vehicle movements if requested to trace speeders, so this app may serve more than one purpose.
