IS your business in the party spirit?
It appears so. While the office Christmas party may have been killed off last year thanks to the recession, it seems firms are getting back into the seasonal spirit.
More than two thirds of UK companies are throwing a Christmas bash this year with SMEs splashing the cash to reward hard-working and faithful staff with spending above the £1000 average, according to research by workplace provider Regus.
Celia Donne, regional director at Regus commented: “It makes good business sense for companies to reward their staff with celebrations following tough times. A bonus or a staff party is a good morale booster to reward and recognise employees for their contribution in the past year.”
Ms Donne added: “However, businesses should be aware that December is a month for celebrations, and that many employees may be feeling spirited in the party season. The businesses that will suffer the least from absent staff are those that allow their staff to work smarter, by implementing ideas such as flexible working and using technology, which allow people to work on the move or from home, and nurture productivity through innovative working practices.”
