VAUXHALL is gearing up to display a new range-topping version of the Vauxhall Adam at next month’s Paris Motor Show. The Adam S gets a 150 PS 1.4-litre turbo engine, a six-speed manual gearbox, a “performance” chassis and a VXR braking system.
The 1.4-litre turbo engine fitted in the Adam S has enough poke for a top speed of 124 mph and a 0-62 mph time 8.5 seconds.
It’s also Euro 6-compliant and achieves a combined 44.1 mpg with CO2 emissions of 149g/km CO2, thanks in part to stop/start technology.
Exterior changes for the Adam S include a front lip spoiler, side sill mouldings and an extended rear bumper cut-out with a visible, bold exhaust tailpipe.
The Adam S also has a distinctive spoiler above the rear window, tinted LED daytime running and rear tail lights, and a special Adam S logo on the C pillars.
Inside the Adam S, there’s a choice of four different seat arrangements, three of which are exclusive to this model, including Recaro Performance seats in Morrocana or nappa leather.
The IntelliLink system, which provides connectivity and apps, is compatible with both Android-based and Apple iOS smartphones.
There’s also USB and Bluetooth connectivity, audio streaming, seven speakers and a 7-inch high-definition colour touch-screen.
IntelliLink also provides navigation by the BringGo app, as well as the Stitcher and TuneIn apps.
UK order books will open for the Adam S in January 2015.
