Detroit hasn’t quite retained it’s Motown mojo, but the Motor Show was one of the busiest ever

THE city itself may be in dire straits, but this yearโ€™s Detroit Motor Show (Jan 13-26) was one of the busiest yet.ย  And if you thought the Detroit show was just for the US market, take a look at our run down of ten of the most exciting new models at Detroit. One of these might just be your next company car.

ย

Mercedes C-Class

Sitting on the Mercedes showstand, the new C looked every inch the mini S-Class โ€“ right down to its fantastic interior.

Mercedes is promising plenty of technology, high comfort levels and a range of super-efficient engines. Look out for this one as your next company car.

Lexus RC-F

The RC-F is Lexusโ€™ answer to the BMW M4, but this one comes with a 5.0-litre naturally aspirated V8 boasting well over 450bhp โ€“ the M4 uses a turbocharged straight-six.

Lexus told us that the RC-F actually arrives before the standard RC does, so expect to see it on sale at the end of this year for around ยฃ57,000.

If BMW can have a 6-cylinder 4 Series, Lexus shall have a V8 in the new RC rival

BMW M3

So, M4 is the new name for the M3 Coupe but the saloon M3 lives on.

With a carbon fibre roof and other weight-saving tricks this car is 80kg lighter than the old car. Itโ€™s powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbo straight six rather than a 4.0-litre V8 but power is still up from 414bhp to 425bhp.

Go for the dual clutch gearbox and the 0-62mph time stands at a blistering 4.1 seconds.
