Business Car Manager verdict

The Tesla Model S feels like a real revolution in electric cars from its usable range and hi-tech interior to its blistering performance and luxury car comfort.

It’s a really intriguing company car proposition because of its 100% write-down allowance and company car tax exemption (not to mention zero road tax and congestion charge).

Compare that with an ‘entry level’ diesel S-Class, for example, which has a BIK value of £15,614 (so a 40% tax payer will pay around £6500 a year in company car tax) and you can quickly see there’s a solid financial argument in favour of the Model S. Plus the Tesla is 2 seconds quicker in the sprint!

It’s not going to be perfect for everyone but you should at least consider it – this feels like the time that electric cars have really come of age.
