Overnight Protection

Parking your vehicle in a heated garage means you avoid having to de-ice your car in the mornings, however be aware that parking your slush and salt laden car in a warm garage will cause the slush to melt – the moisture reacts with the salt, speeding up corrosion.

The plus side of leaving your car outside means that salty slush is more likely to stay frozen, slowing the corrosive elements in the salt.

 A Few Things to Consider

As well as protecting the exterior of your vehicle you should also remember to change from your summer windscreen cleaner to a winter friendly option that includes anti-freeze properties.

It’s also a good idea to check your spark plugs and your battery, if it’s older than two years you can have the battery life checked at a garage.

Don’t wait for the first sign of snow before arming yourself with an ice scraper and a shovel, be prepared and have your emergency winter kit ready and waiting in the boot of your vehicle.
