Portable toilet company, Toilets+, has invested in Quartix InfoPlus real-time vehicle tracking technology in order to cut the company's fuel bills

Toilets+: tracking has stopped fuel cost leakage

Vehicle tracking cuts fuel costs for Toilets+ firm’s van fleet

TOILETS+ is a major supplier of portable toilets in the south-east, providing relief for events goers, weddings and the construction industry.

But Toilets+ found itself getting caught short by a major leakage in its fuel bill. That’s when the Wymondham, Norfolk, based business, with 50 employees, decided it was time to dump the waste – and invest in vehicle tracking.

The latest Quartix real-time vehicle tracking with InfoPlus option has now been fitted to 32 of the company’s vans – mainly Mercedes Sprinters – and is due to be fitted to the remaining eight in due course.

Managing director Mick Bowman said: “Through the system we discovered some staff were reaching a site and leaving their vehicle’s engine running, often for very long periods.

“In fact, they are required to switch off and remove the ignition key on arrival.”

The real-time vehicle tracking system is saving Toilets+ as much as £400 per month in fuel costs, says Mr Bowman.

Mr Bowman added that his firm was impressed with being able to guide vehicles to new sites using the Google mapping facility on the Quartix system.

“We also use the Quartix service to check drivers’ start and finish times to aid the monthly payroll. It is helpful for monitoring the bill from TFL for congestion charges as mistakes can be made,” he added.

Toilets+ chose InfoPlus which includes real-time benefits such as one-minute vehicle updates, tailored daily and weekly management reports, real-time geofencing alerts, speeding and driver behaviour reports, a vehicle route replay facility, a fleet management organiser, a system configuration control, and Google Maps with satellite view.

Toilets+ was founded by its managing director, Mick Bowman, more than 20 years ago. It provides portable toilets throughout East and South-Eastern England from depots in East Anglia, London and the South supplying the events industry, weddings, the Ministry of Defence, police forces, fire brigades, farms, the construction industry, and private homes.
