FOR company car drivers who don’t want to hang around between business trips, there’s a new hot hatch to get the business heart racing – the Clio Renaultsport 220 Trophy.

This little race track refugee boasts a delicious 220 horsepower from its 1.6-litre turbo-charged engine producing a 0-62mph sprint time of just 6.6 seconds on the way to a top speed of 146mph.

Yet despite the 10% power hike and 20% increase in torque up now up to 260Nm achieved by using a bigger turbo-charger, the Trophy is also more efficient.

This more potent and higher-revving version of the Clio Renaultsport power unit is fully EU6-compliant and features Stop&Start, helping towards excellent fuel economy and emissions figures for such a high-performance car of 47.9mpg on the combined cycle with a BIK friendly CO2 rating of just 135g/km.

It also comes with a Efficient Dual Clutch (EDC) automatic gearbox, which has been recalibrated by Renaultsport to provide 50% faster shifts.
