New Ford Mustang
New Ford Mustang will be officially available in the UK, the first time in its 50 year history

Mustang flexes its muscles

  • 5.0-litre V8 produces 421PS and sprints to 62mph in 4.8secs;
  • With new 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine accelerates to 62mph in 5.8 secs yet claims 35mpg with 179 g/km CO2 emissions;
  • More than 1,200 UK customers have ordered the new Mustang fastback and convertible, which are set to reach dealerships from late autumn;
  • Selectable drive modes: Normal, Sport+, Track and Snow/Wet;
  • Track Apps will feature Launch Control for optimised performance off the line, accelerometer for recording acceleration forces and Line Lock for warming the rear tyres.
  • Performance and driving dynamics tuned to meet European driving conditions. Advanced suspension, stiff body and lightweight materials deliver balance, response and up to 0.97g when cornering.

AMERICAN muscle is heading for the company car park in the shape of Ford’s fastest coupé ever to be offered in UK – the fire-breathing Mustang.

The model, which reached iconic motoring status in the hands of the late great Steve McQueen in Bullitt, now hits our roads promising a 0-62mph sprint time of a tyre shredding 4.8 seconds.
Unsurprisingly, Ford tell us that more than 1,200 UK customers have ordered an all-new Mustang.

Officially on sale in the UK for the first time in its 50-year history, the Mustang is available with Ford’s pure beef 5.0-litre V8 engine delivering 421PS and 530Nm of torque, or, for motoring vegetarians, the more fuel-efficient 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine delivering 317PS and 432Nm of torque. This ‘green’ option, which claims fuel economy of up to 35.3mpg and 179g/km CO2 emissions, will still see 62mph from standstill in 5.8 seconds.

Ford Mustang drivers can optimise the car’s performance to suit their mood and driving conditions using selectable drive modes and, away from public roads naturally, can use Track Apps to monitor driving performance.

Petrol heads wanting maximum acceleration away from the lights from their 5.0-litre V8s can make use of Ford’s Launch Control technology.

“The new Ford Mustang will be wickedly fast off the line and throw you back in your seat with a thrilling engine soundtrack,” said Hermann Salenbauch, Mustang vehicle line director. “But Mustang isn’t just fast in a straight line. The ride and handling will be a revelation for European drivers.”
