The expected downturn in used car prices during the summer period failed to materialise.

According to latest pricing data from auction house BCA, used car values held up well.

Cars in good condition were quickly bought.

“The best cars continue to be sought after,” commented Mark Hankey, sales director, BCA.

“Dealers are out and buying strongly. However, there was little interest in higher mileage cars in poorer condition.”

Average prices were just above £7000 for July; and dipped below that point for August.

BCA’s summer selling prices

  • July average £7003 Age 38.1 months Mileage 58,458
  • August average £6956 Age 38.3 months Mileage 59,273
