Vauxhall’s new baby – would you Adam and Eve it?
Blog: Ralph Morton
So. Vauxhall’s new baby car is the…Adam.
Frankly, sounds daft to me. Can you imagine giving your staffer their new company car? “Ah, Adam, here’s your new…errr…Adam.”
Mind you, let’s face it the new VW city car is the Up!
“Hi Adam, here’s the new company car car…it’s the Up! – yours.”
Etc.
Car names have always been a problem for car makers. Ford went through serial angst over ditching Sierra for Mondeo, and Escort for Focus.
Renault had a catastrophically complicated naming system for car models that mercifully the French company ditched for this year. No one here could understand what they were buying. Suspect the dealers were similarly confused too. Neither could directors looking after company car policy.
