Vehicle Excise Duty in 2012/13

The existing 13- band VED structure remains in place for 2012/13 with Retail Price Index-linked new rates applicable from April 1, 2012. The key points are:

  • Cars with CO2 emissions of up to 100g/Km remain exempt from VED in 2012/13.
  • First-year VED rates (Showroom Tax) add up to £555 to the ROTR prices of qualifying cars.
  • For cars in Band M, the first-year rate is set at £1,030 in 2012/13.
  • In2012/13, the alternative fuel discounted annual VED rate remains at £10 for all qualifying cars.
