Volkswagen Caravelle Business
Electric side doors come as standard

What’s not

  • Ride loses its composure over ruts and big bumps when the van underpinnings show through
  • The engine can feel laboured if you drop speed as the gearbox hangs onto the highest gear as you regain momentum (workaround is easy though: slip the DSG autobox into manual, slip it down to sixth, build speed, slip it back into auto mode – your passengers won’t feel a thing)
  • Cup holders – for a business express you need good, solid holders; apart from those in the rear two seats the remainder are not, and are fitted with a spring loaded retainer arm are fiddly to use
  • There’s no usb connector
  • Boot space is severely restricted if the full length of the cabin is used for all six seats
