VOLKSWAGEN has launched a sporty new range-topping Polo – the Polo GTI. The new car has a 192 PS 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol engine and will be available with a choice of six-speed manual or self-shifting seven-speed DSG gearboxes. Buyers will be able to choose between three-door and five-door body-shells as well.
Acceleration from 0-62 mph comes up in 6.7 seconds and top speed is 146 mph
The Polo GTI is already available to order, although the first cars won’t arrive in the UK until March 2015. Prices start at £18,850 for a three-door manual, with the five-door option costing an extra £630 and the DSG gearbox commanding a premium of £1,245.
Acceleration from 0-62 mph comes up in 6.7 seconds and top speed is 146 mph. DSG-equipped models are good for 50.4 mpg and CO2 emissions of 129 g/km. The corresponding figures for the manual are 47.1 mpg and 139 g/km.
