Volvo believes that inductive charging will be one of the factors that will increase acceptance of electric vehicles

However, while induction charging may be some way off in terms of a commercially viable solution that you’ll be able to install at home, Volvo is constantly working towards a more sustainable future.

Earlier this year the Volvo V60 Plug-In Hybrid  was launched – a powerful estate car capable of nearly 150mpg and with CO2 emissions of just 49g/km.

Although not fully electric, the V60 Plug-In combines an electric motor with a diesel engine – for extended range and improved practicality.

The company has now initiated a partnership with engineering and electronics giant, Siemens, to develop the technology over the coming months and years.
