The sleek new coupe will be powered by a high performance 400bhp hybrid powertrain

CALLED Drive-E, they’ll be shown for the first time at the Frankfurt Motor Show alongside a brand-new concept car.

The new Volvo Drive-E engines are set to go on sale in the updated Volvo S60, V60 and XC60 from this autumn.

The first of the new Drive-E powertrains, a turbocharged 302bhp 2.0-litre T6 petrol engine, will replace the current six-cylinder unit and – although no figures have been released yet – should be more economical than the engine it replaces.

However, the interesting news for company car drivers and business car managers is the revised 2.0-litre four-cylinder D4 diesel engine.

Again, this engine should be more economical than the current unit, meaning combined fuel economy of better than 55mpg and emissions of less than 114g/km in the Volvo S60 saloon.

It’s considerably more powerful, too, boasting an impressive 179bhp instead of the 161bhp in the old five-cylinder D4.
