THE new VW Golf GTI is available to order now.

Deliveries of the Mk6 Golf GTI start in May.

The new VW Golf GTI costs £22,410 for the three-door; £22,995 for the five-door. VW’s fast-shifting semi-auto double-clutch DSG is also available.

The latest VW Golf GTI is powered by a 2.0-litre T-FSI engine. Power output is 210PS – up by 10PS on the GTI Mk5.

Emissions fall from 189g/km to 170g/km. This places the GTI in the 22% company car tax band.

Fuel economy is also better. This rises from 35.3mpg to 38.7mpg.

The Golf GTI is back. Almost 36 years since the first prototype GTI, the latest evolution is available to order

Despite the rise in power output, the new GTI has a standard XDS electronically controlled differential to keep the power and the front wheels in check.

The ride height has been lowered by 22mm at the front; and 15mm at the rear over the standard Golf. Adaptive Chassis Control system (ACC) – pneumatically controlled damper units adjust the ride for normal, comfort or sport – is available for the first time on the GTI.

Standard GTI equipment includes red and black tartan sports seats; a flat-bottomed GTI multifunction steering wheel; red brake callipers; 17-inch’Monza’ alloys; and 2Zone electronic climate control.
