Fools gold: Drivers are not convinced by fuel economy claims
Even when there’s a demand for used cars, the business of disposing of used company cars can be a hassle. Selling online might work for you

IF YOU work for a small or medium-sized business and are considering changing your company car for a new one then there are several ways you can dispose of your old vehicle.

You may be in a hurry to get your new fleet car or not have the time to sell your old one and may be thinking ‘what are the advantages if I sell my car online?’

The more traditional option of trying to sell your car privately is through the local classified section. This can be a way of getting a good price for your car.  It can be a time consuming process, however, and may not result you in getting your hands on your new company car quickly.

First of all, you will need to write an advert, take photos of your vehicle before submitting it to the publication, double checking the MOT and tax disc details etc.

Advertising in the classified is not usually very expensive so can be a cost effective way of getting somebody to buy your car although there is no guarantee the vehicle will sell.

However if you are a busy businessman it may become stressful arranging to meet potential buyers – some of which may turn out to be timewasters – which could cost you time and money.

There is then the potentially awkward situation of a buyer trying to negotiate you down on price which can be particularly embarrassing if this is outside your own home.

You might want to try to sell your car at an auction where you can expect to receive a competitive price and they will usually store it for you too before it goes under the hammer.  But again, there is no guarantee your car will sell, and you will have to deduct the costs of auctioning the vehicle.

A third solution is part exchanging your vehicle to a dealer as it is ideal and they will usually buy your car regardless of the condition. But it is generally considered you will receive the lowest amount for your car compared to selling your car privately or through an auction.

Then there is selling your car online which is quick, easy and very convenient. There are a number of internet car companies out there and it can be difficult for company car owners to know which ones are reputable as many do come and go.

One company that you might want to try is the one that established itself as the first online fleet car buying service in the United Kingdom, Sell Your Jamjar. Founded in 1999, the Nottinghamshire-based Sell Your Jamjar buys any car whatever the make, model, age, mileage or condition. You can also scrap your car.

All users have to do is enter their vehicle registration number of the car they want to sell and then follow the three easy steps to identify their vehicle.

Sell Your Jamjar will make you an offer and if you accept it you just need to tell them when and where you want the vehicle picked up. The car will be collected for free anywhere in the UK with the purchase price paid directly into your bank account. Sell Your Jamjar does not drive away until you are happy you have received the cash.

‘So what are the advantages if I sell my car online?’ There is no advertising needed, no stress, no haggling buyers, no wasting time, and no costs incurred. Instead, the process is fast, simple and suits your needs and more importantly you then get your hands on your new company car.
