WHAT do you need in winter? A 4×4.

So it’s probably unsurprisingly in the teeth of UK cold snap mid-winter, topping the sales table was the Volkswagen Touareg.

“The Volkswagen Touareg is often underrated but offers fantastic build quality, superb engines, great handling and subtle looks. This is the thinking man’s Porsche Cayenne.”

Second in the table is the Vauxhall Mokka which Pontin describes as – “A funky looking crossover that seems to have captured the hearts of the C Sector buyer looking for something exciting and appealing to the eye, the Vauxhall Mokka is currently doing well.”

Although not all Vauxhalls did so well.

The premium convertible Cascada proved the hardest to sell last month – are you surprised? So clearly a good time to hoover one up while used prices are low in prepartion for the summer when values and demand will undoubtedly rise.

Rupert Pontin, Glass’s head of valuations, said: “Vauxhall’s Cascada is at the bottom of the list becoming this month’s slowest selling car. Such a shame because it is not a bad car but, Mokka aside, Vauxhall has something of a disconnect with used buyers – it currently has three cars in the 20 slowest selling models.”

The Skoda Yeti – a compact SUV style car also did well.

“Skoda is a brand to watch for 2015 as it begins to become a really desirable alternative to some of the more ‘run of the mill’ mainstream alternatives and the Yeti is very popular.”

Average selling price for the top five fastest selling cars is £15,791 – up 6.5% on last month.

The average selling price for the top five slowest selling cars is £15,062 – 11.7% up on the previous month.
