161 – Trying to find the Holiday Inn at Heathrow

Share

5 April 2009

My wife’s sister and her husband from Carlisle, Cumbria, are down in London this weekend.

They were staying at the Holiday Inn, Heathrow. We said we’d drive over to pick them up…and got completely lost trying to find the hotel!

We could see it…but couldn’t quite reach it. In the end we took a wrong turn into Heathrow itself, and got stuck in a traffic jam – at 830 in the evening!

Anyway, find it we did. Pick them up we did. And had a very good meal – not far from the Business Car Manager office in Hampton.

My brother in law runs his own building services company – Tom Brown Construction. He builds houses. But with the slump in the market, has turned back to supplying maintenance support. And says he’s even had to take on another member of staff!

Which always goes to prove two things for small businesses: have flexibility in your position so you can adapt to market changes; and good businesses will continue to prosper despite the difficulties in the economy.
