IT WAS a horrible moment. I remember it well and have not been minded to talk about it until now.
I had to go to a meeting early in the morning. I started the Audi, and it was lumpy. OK, it’s a diesel, it was cold, but it shouldn’t be lumpy like this, I thought.
I tried clearing it with a bit of throttle, but to no noticeable effect. And then I realised what had happened. The wrong fuel had been put in. I turned the spluttering engine off.
I went back into the house and checked the visa fuel receipt – sure enough,
