BMW X5 xDrive40e
BMW is the latest manufacturer to adorn one of its SUVs with plug-in hybrid technology. The X5 xDrive40e has made the transition from concept to production model rather unscathed, after first seeing the SUV in the shape of the Concept X5 eDrive.
It uses a 242bhp 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine which comes paired with a 111bhp electric motor, producing a combined 309bhp and 350Nm of torque. BMW claims the X5 is capable of travelling up to 19miles on electric power alone, the same as the BMW’s closest rival Mercedes GLE 500e.
